Abstract

The article presents an updated algorithm for the treatment of depression in bipolar affective disorder. The relevance of this work is due not only to the high prevalence and powerful maladaptive effect of the disease, but also to the emergence of new drugs and the formation of new approaches to therapy. First of all, this concerns limiting the use of antidepressants in the treatment of depression in bipolar disorder and expanding the use of second-generation antipsychotics. The algorithm is based on the analysis of literature data, taking into account the latest evidence-based studies and meta-analyses and expert opinions. The choice of medicines for various stages of therapy is determined by the degree of evidence available about them.
