PERSONALIZED APPROACH TO THERAPY OF DEPRESSION IN SCHIZOPHRENIA

Abstract

Review reveals the relevance of the problem of depression in schizophrenia, the relationship between depression and other symptoms of schizophrenia, the issues of depression diagnosis in the structure of schizophrenia and its impact on the course of the disease. Approaches to psychopharmacotherapy of depression in patients with schizophrenia, including antipsychotic therapy, use of antidepressants, and normothymics are reviewed. The possibility of using non-pharmacological methods of treatment is noted. The peculiarities of depression therapy in elderly schizophrenic patients are indicated.
