Approaches to the therapy of gambling addiction
Abstract
The article is devoted to the current state of the problem of gambling addiction (GAD) therapy. After a brief literature review, our own data are presented based on the results of an open single-center study, which included 104 patients suffering from gambling addiction. Of these, 54 (51.9%) received comprehensive care, 89 (87.9%) received only psychopharmacotherapy, and 81 [20.2%] received psychotherapy. It has been established that the greatest potential for achieving the goal is the complete elimination of the implementation of the pathological
attraction to gambling - has a complex method that involves the use of psychopharmacotherapy (aimed at correcting biological disorders) and psychotherapy (aimed at correcting personal and family relationships). Clinical and laboratory guidelines for the choice of psychopharmacotherapy are proposed.
