Diagnostics and treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (Literature review)
Abstract
The paper reviews current publications on the epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnostic criteria, comorbidiry and treatment of generalized anxiety disorder. The latter is widely spread in
the population and general medical practice patients and results in substantial disadaptation and worse somatic health. However, to identify specific diagnostic criteria for generalized
anxiety disorder and to substantiate its independence outside other disorders, mainly depressive ones, are urgent as before. Some aspects of the problem are analyzed with emphasis on
pathogenetically based approaches to pharmacotherapy for generalized anxiety disorder.
