Paliperidone palmitate in the therapy of the First Episode of Paranoid Schizophrenia (Clinical case)
Abstract
The publication describes a patient with a newly emerging paranoid syndrome within the framework of paranoid schizophrenia. Treatment with haloperidol led to the deactivation of delusional
ideas, but caused the development of extrapyramidal disorders. By stopping the use of antipsychotics, the psychopathological symptoms became more complicated with the development of verbal
pseudo-hallucinosis. The transfer from therapy with haloperidol to the injection of paliperidone palmitate resulted in a reduction of psychoactive symptoms, undesirable phenomena of the previous
therapy, stabilization of the patient with the first attack of schizophrenia. The use of paliperidone palmitate contributed to the formation of stable remission and the restoration of social functioning.
